Terms of Use

These terms apply to your use of the Athena's Not So Secret Society app (the App). Please read them. By downloading or using the App you agree to them.

In short: the App is for learning and reflection. Some of it is free and some needs a paid membership. A membership renews every month until you cancel it, and you cancel it in your Apple settings. The App does not give professional advice. Your journal stays on your phone.

1. Who we are

The App is provided by Rebecca Tofts, a sole trader trading as Bextoft Spiritual Guidance, based in the United Kingdom ("we", "us"). You can contact us at becky_tofts@live.com.

2. Apple's standard licence

You also agree to Apple's standard licensed application end user licence agreement, which you can read at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. If these terms and Apple's licence disagree about something, Apple's licence decides how the App itself may be used, and these terms decide everything about the content and your membership.

 

3. The free version and membership

Some parts of the App are free to use. Other parts are only open to members. What is free and what is for members may change over time, and we will always show you clearly what a membership includes before you buy it.

 

4. Paid membership

Membership is an auto-renewing monthly subscription. The price is shown in the App, in your own currency, before you buy.

  • Payment is taken from your Apple ID account when you confirm the purchase.

  • The subscription renews automatically each month unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the end of the period.

  • You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your device settings, under your name, then Subscriptions. Deleting the App does not cancel it.

  • Purchases are made through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple. You can ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. This does not affect any rights you have by law.

  • If the price changes, Apple will tell you in line with its own rules and you can cancel before the new price starts.

 

5. Member codes

If you already hold a membership with us through our website, you may be able to unlock the App with a member code. Codes are personal to you. Please do not share, sell or publish them, or try to guess other people's codes. We may check a code from time to time and may switch one off, for example if the website membership ends or the code is misused.

 

6. Our content

The text, teachings, drawings, symbols, layouts and other material in the App belong to us or are used with permission. You may use them for your own personal study. You may not copy, republish, sell, or share them in bulk, or use them to train a computer system, without our written permission. Short quotations with a clear credit to us are welcome.

 

7. What the content is, and is not

The App teaches the history of astrology and related traditions, and offers material for reflection and enjoyment. This includes astrology, past-life astrology, tarot, symbolism and other esoteric ideas. These are traditions and ways of looking at life. They are not proven fact, and we do not promise any particular result.

Nothing in the App is medical, psychological, legal, financial or other professional advice, and it is not a substitute for any of them. Please do not make important decisions about your health, money, relationships or legal matters on the strength of it. Any practice in the App is optional. If something brings up strong feelings or worries you, please stop and speak to a doctor or someone you trust.

 

8. Your journal and notes

Your journal entries and chamber notes are stored only on your own phone. We cannot see them, and we cannot recover them if they are lost. If you delete the App or lose your phone they are gone, so please use the copy and share button now and then to keep a copy somewhere safe.

 

9. Using the App properly

Please do not copy or take apart the App, interfere with how it works, try to get around the free and member limits, or use it for anything unlawful.

 

10. Changes, and availability

We update the App and its content, and new material is added over time. We may change or remove content, and we do not promise the App will always be available or free from errors, although we will take reasonable care. Parts of the App may need an internet connection.

11. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits any responsibility we cannot limit by law, including for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and for your rights as a consumer. Otherwise, we are responsible for losses that are a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care, and we are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable.

 

12. Ending your use

You can stop using the App at any time. If you have a subscription, please cancel it in your device settings first. We may suspend or end your access if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the App changes or the law does. The date at the top shows when they were last updated. If you keep using the App after a change, you accept the new terms.

14. Which law applies

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring a claim in your local courts, and if you are a consumer you keep the protections of the law where you live.
